Brazil - Rio De Janeiro and Curitiba

In 2007 our club was matched with two cities in Brazil. We had hosted several Brazilian clubs before but, for many of our members, this would be our first visit to this amazing country. We stayed in Rio de Janerio for our first week before flying to Curitiba. We had organised two additional weeks in Brazil so that we could visit the magnificent waterfalls of Iguazu and the relaxing beach resort of Buzios.

    After we had each met our hosts and settled in, we got together for a Welcome Party.

    We rode on two cable cars to reach the top of "Pão de Açúcar" for spectacular views of Rio de Janerio.

    It was a five-minute walk to the beach from my host's apartment.

    We travelled to the old town of Paraty for an overnight stay in a small hotel.

    Our hosts had organised a scenic boat trip, with a stop for lunch and a swim in the warm sea.

    Our extended stay took us first to Iguazu Falls on the borders of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil.
